“Save the Date” – International Day for Women and Girls in Science

In celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, UN Women and the Action Coalition on Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality are pleased to invite you to a High-Level Virtual Dialogue that aims to explore the roles of women and girls in building 21st century science and technology enterprises. The event will focus on the theme ‘Creating Entrepreneurship opportunities for Women and Girls in Science’ and provide an opportunity to discuss strategic ways to support women and girls, highlight success stories through action and impact, and present examples of strong commitments by diverse stakeholders to galvanize new support in line with the Action Coalition’s blueprints. The event will involve conversations with representatives of Member States, Private Sector, Civil Society Organization, Youth, and beneficiaries of successful programs.   

The event will be held as a virtual session on Zoom. The event is open to the public; however, registration is required.

  • Dialogue between a company and a government-backed financial institution on building more inclusive science and innovation ecosystems: Oya Ünlü Kızıl, Corporate Communications and External Affairs Director, Koc Holding and Kaisa Alavuotunki, Director Impact and Sustainability at Finnfund
  • Dialogue between a company and a civil society organization on developing programmes to help women and girls from disadvantaged groups: Emmanuelle Larroque, Founder and CEO at Social Builder and Stuart McLaughlin, Google Global Innovation Challenge Representative
  • Dialogue between a company and an entrepreneur on how multinational corporations can play a role in supporting entrepreneurship: Jamila Belabidi, Purchases Director Global Women Economic Empowerment and Global Innovation at Procter & Gamble and Cécile Dekeuwer, WeCo Toilet (P&G entrepreneur beneficiary)
